Research

Food security has been my primary long-run research interest. My work has covered both domestic and international topics. Domestically the focus has been on the food programs, particularly food stamps (SNAP) and school lunch. Internationally it has been on hunger and poverty in developing countries. Recently my research has included a wide range of topics with important policy implications. These include labeling foods containing GMO's and biofuels, and environmental issues related to land use.
