Biography

Arabella Velleux is a mathematician, educator, and researcher dedicated to using quantitative methods to address issues of equity, public health, and social justice. She is an adjunct faculty member at Red Lake Nation College, where she teaches mathematics to support Indigenous students in pursuing their educational goals. Arabella’s research spans econometrics, data science, and applied mathematics, with projects examining economic stability in Major League Soccer, broadband access on tribal lands, and disaster response modeling for hurricanes. Currently affiliated with the Roy Wilkins Center for Human Relations and Social Justice at the University of Minnesota, she is developing policy-focused research on racial disparities in drowning and public safety. A former AmeriCorps Public Health member, Arabella is also involved in the nonprofit community breaking down barriers to sports participation in the Twin Cities. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in public affairs with a master’s in applied economics en route.
