Environmental and Resource Economics

Managing Natural Resources and Safeguarding Environmental Quality

Ensuring environmental quality and providing natural resources are essential for current and future human health and well-being. Economic tools and analysis bring important insights for how to provide incentives for environmental protection and sustainable resource use and for measuring costs and benefits of alternative private actions and public policies. Environmental and resource issues are closely linked to other research areas in the department (agricultural production, economic growth and development, and public sector decisions), as well as to other departments and programs on campus (e.g., Conservation Sciences, Ecology, Evolution and Behavior, Forest Resources, Initiative for Renewable Energy and the Environment, Water Resources).
