Ph.D. students in the Applied Economics Graduate Program are required to demonstrate expert knowledge in microeconomics. Expert knowledge is demonstrated by passing a preliminary exam that is prepared and graded by a committee of the graduate faculty who teach the microeconomics sequence at the doctoral level.
